Lots Holloway released her last solo single, Stay a Little Longer in July 2017 (scroll to the bottom to see the music video for Stay a Little Longer). A few months later and Lots returns to a more organic, contemplative style on the title track and lead single Slow Down’.

“It’s a song about being present in every moment; about not rushing or wishing your life away. The only time we have is now, and you’ll miss it when it’s gone.”

Like previous releases, Lots is responsible for everything from the composition and layered vocal harmonies to the production and mastering. She’s also the brains behind all her video concepts, press shots and artwork, keeping creative control of all aspects of her career. We love strong LBQ women who know what they want!

Where Stay a Little Stronger was quite emotionally charged and intense, this EP is calmer and more reflective.

Track List

  1. Slow Down
  2. Berry Bones
  3. Love Me
  4. Between You and Me

Title track, ‘Slow Down’, has a lovely rhythm and has a lovely sound to it that is enthralling.

The second track, ‘Berry Bones’, is more upbeat and has a great beat to it. Lot’s voice is slick and easy to listen to.

The third track, ‘Love Me’, has an echoing tone and has a more clear style. The chorus is very catchy and great to sing along and dance to with a special someone!

You can definitely see the journey the EP is taking you on as you listen to tracks one to three. The final track, ‘Between You and Me’ is actually a demo track. It hasn’t been produced, and it features Lots singing raw with a single accoustic guitar. The stripped back style suits the lyrics so we can see why she has chosen to do this, even though it doesn’t go with the remainder of the tracks, it does complete the journey of the EP showing how women can send us into a whirlwind, completely enthral us, make us crave them, and pull back our armour stripping us bare and leaving us vulnerable.

Released by:

Why I? Records via Absolute.

Slow Down is out on 4 October 2017.

Born in a small town in Cornwall, Lots spent most of her childhood writing lyrics and teaching herself how to play different instruments after being inspired by some of the songs in her parent’s vast collection of music. First the drums, then the guitar, the bass, and finally the piano. Once Lots had mastered each of these elements individually, she began to merge them, along with her lyrics, and started crafting and arranging entire songs.

Since moving to London in 2011 she’s continued to hone in on her own musical style, taking inspiration from icons such as Talking Heads, David Bowie and Kate Bush, combining this with her own natural talent and diverse ability as a singer-songwriter.

Following an inspiring session in Bryan Ferry’s personal recording studio, Lots Holloway released her debut single, ‘World’s On Fire’ – a track which first showcased her talents to blend pop qualities with considered, insightful lyrics/themes. This was followed up with the recent single ‘Stay A Little Longer’.
